Because of their sexual inexperience, they were a bit uncomfortable discussing the subject and so they came up with the term "doing the laundry" instead of "having sex."

This made them both more comfortable with the whole concept.

The first night of their honeymoon, they "did the laundry" five times.

In the middle of the night the husband woke his wife and asked if they could "do the laundry" again.

She told him that she was too tired, and asked if he could wait until the morning.
